As Yianni Stamas, publicity/marketing expert and consultant, leaned back in the couch of the offices of NY City Press, one got the sense that he'd rather be on the set of his latest movie. But Stamas, in his commitment to the over 70 internet publications he shepherds, is determined to meeting with all the staffs.

NYCP: We'll make this as painless as possible. Are the rumors true? Did the Media Space NYC Community Magazine Network come out of your addiction...your addiction to...registering domain names?

For the first time Yianni laughs, perks up a bit, and illuminates.

STAMAS: In a manner of speaking, yes. I spent a few years registering domain names, building websites and then tearing them down. My brother Mark of Off Media gave me the intervention. He explained to me that it would be a good idea to leave the sites up. Suddenly there was an interest in the publications and what had started as a dirty little secret became the key to my success.

NYCP: So you don't consider registering domain names to be an addiction?

STAMAS: The funny thing is, once I began to see that the magazines could help people build visibility for themselves and their businesses, registering domains and building websites became a good thing. It gave way to collaboration and I think collaborating is important these days.

NYCP:
And now you've evolved the VFW Academy internship paradigm into NYC AIM. So the sites provide a way for students to learn about media and publishing which is an innovative approach to workforce development.
